The Structure Meets Function webinar series is back, and this month we have a very special guest speaker!

The latest webinar in the series will feature Markus Weingarth, author and lead on the spectacular new paper "Teixobactin kills bacteria by a two-pronged attack on the cell envelope" (Shukla et al, 2022). Markus is also the recent winner of the ICMRBS Founders Medal. The webinar will take place 11:00 - 12:00 CEST. Register for the webinar here.

Featuring expert speakers from Instruct Centres across Europe, Instruct-ERIC Webinar Series: Structure Meets Function highlights some of the latest developments in structural biology, demonstrating how integrative methods are enabling scientists to decipher the mechanisms that underpin health and disease.

Moderator: Prof Harald Schwalbe, Instruct-ERIC Director

Speaker: Markus Weingarth, Associate Professor at Bijvoet Centre

Abstract: The group of Markus Weingarth studies the mode of action of membrane-active antibiotics on several length scales (micrometre to angstrom) using solid-state NMR as core technique. This talk will focus on the recent discovery of the supramolecular killing mechanism of the antibiotic teixobactin (Shukla et al., Nature, 2022).
