Postdoctoral position: Computational & experimental structural biology -- Keedy Lab, CUNY ASRC, New York City
City University of New York, New York, United States
Application deadline: 13 Nov 2026
They are especially interested in enzymes and their allosteric regulation -- including how allostery has been "rewired" over evolution among homologous enzymes, and how those differences can be exploited for the rational design of small-molecule modulators. They also have growing interests in designed proteins and the "hidden" ways they differ from their natural counterparts.
WHO THEY ARE LOOKING FOR
- A PhD in structural biology, computational biology, biophysics, biochemistry, or a related field
- An established research track record (e.g., first-author publications)
- Curiosity, motivation, and excitement to work at the bench and/or the keyboard
Big pluses, but not required:
- X-ray crystallography and/or cryoEM experience
- Programming experience, especially AI/machine learning
THE POSITION
- Appointment: Full-time; initial 1-year appointment, renewable for a 2nd year based on performance and funding
- Start: Flexible; late 2026 - early 2027
- Salary: $66,000-$70,000, commensurate with qualifications, plus RF CUNY benefits
- Growth: Mentoring and support for fellowship applications and career development
ENVIRONMENT
- Located in a green pocket of upper Manhattan, at the Structural Biology Initiative of the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center (ASRC)
- World-class facilities for crystallization, NMR, mass spec (incl. HDX-MS), & cryoEM, plus a new HPC cluster & Empire AI supercomputer access
- Regular X-ray beamtime at NSLS-II (AMX, FMX, NYX) for high-throughput fragment screening & variable-temperature / time-resolved crystallography; additional access to CHESS for high-pressure crystallography
- Next door to the New York Structural Biology Center, a national resource for cryoEM
Funded by the NIH (NIGMS and NIA) and an NSF CAREER award.
