Computational and Data Management Services

Instruct provides funding to access data analysis tools in addition to tools to collect structural biology data, maximising the output of access visits and heightening the impact of structural biology research.

Cloud Storage

EOSC Federated Storage Services

Allows our facilities and researchers to connect to ARIA and manage and deposit their research outputs to storage providers federated via EOSC.

User Profile

A structural biologist at an Instruct facility.

Problem

A structural biologist granted funding via Instruct must manage their research data according to FAIR principles. However, the user and/or facility may not have the capacity to store or manage the raw data produced in the research visit.

Solution

The Instruct Node's ARIA platform has been extended to

host a network of storage providers, federated via EOSC. This can be accessed by Instruct FandanGO, a facility-side workflow and data management toolchain, functioning as an adaptor for the user and/or facility to access and maintain their research data. This data is then automatically published to a public repository after an embargo period is lifted.

Results

The Instruct user is able to benefit from EOSC federated storage and more easily manage their data and publish it according to FAIR principles. The wider strurctual biology community is able to benefit from more publicly available research data.

EOSC Beyond

The ambition of EOSC Beyond is to support the growth of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) in terms of integrated providers and active users by providing new EOSC Core technical solutions that allow developers of scientific application environments to easily compose a diverse portfolio of EOSC Resources.
