EMBRC launches a competitive internal call for developing "Joint Development Activities" aimed at developing the next generation of scientific services, building on the extensive expertise of EMBRC Operators.
EMBRC is launching a competitive call to develop joint development activities (JDAs) among its Operators for the development of advanced services to be offered to the marine research community (researchers and companies). The services developed will be incorporated into the EMBRC service catalogue.
Proposals for new JDAs will be selected based on their alignment with EMBRC’s mission and Science Strategy, their innovation potential, uniqueness and potential for increased collaboration, and exchange of knowledge and know-how among EMBRC Operators. All scientific topics will be considered.
Operators are encouraged to join forces with other EMBRC Operators with similar and/or complementary competencies, in order to streamline and combine several existing services, and to establish standard operating procedures, joint protocols and standards to ensure homogeneity across services. Proposals from single Operators will also be considered, depending on their novelty and originality.
The selected JDAs are expected to generate a viable, costed service (where applicable) that will be available in the EMBRC for external users (it cannot be for exclusive internal use). The development of the JDA (setup, testing and implementation phase) will consist of a period of up to two years.
The budget available to develop and implement the JDA will be up to 100.000€, to be used for consumables, personnel, and travels. Projects involving single Operators will be capped at €35.000. Please note: the awarded Operator(s) will be asked to sign an agreement with EMBRC HQ for the successful delivery of the granted JDA.
The budget is not intended for the purchase of large instrumentation but exclusively for the setup of the new service. Small equipment necessary for the operations of the service can be considered but must be listed and justified in the application. Any hiring of personnel for the setup and deployment of the new JDA service shall be handled by the EMBRC Operator and will not be considered an EMBRC-ERIC employee.
Proposals must be submitted online by Saturday, September 30 - 23:50 CET.
Please follow the steps in the "How to apply" section further below.
The awarded JDAs will be announced to the applicants by email and through the EMBRC website.
