The 3DBionotes web platform provides an interactive environment where structural and multi-omics data can be analysed and explored. The COVID-19 outbreak has heightened the need for a central, web-based resource to access the structure, related biochemical and biomedical annotations and new variants of all proteins associated with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
The COVID-19 3DBionotes platform has been created and hosted by the Instruct Image Processing Centre, in the Biocomputing Unit of the National Centre of Biotechnology in Spain (CNB-CSIC), in close collaboration with ELIXIR-ES. Data has been acquired from a wide range of sources, including Cryo-EM, as well as X-Ray crystallography and NMR. A novel set of annotations for this COVID-19 edition includes functional mapping of the residues that likely constitute ligand and protein-protein interaction binding sites, drug screening, validation and quality measurements, as well as model refinements provided by the Coronavirus Structural Taskforce.
This specific landing page within the overarching 3DBionotes-WS platform takes users through the full catalogue of data and proteins from SARS-CoV-2 and related coronaviruses. It allows users to work with publicly available data, as well as new user data – helping provide the latest information and data for ongoing COVID-19 and coronavirus research.
This has been a crucial resource for structural biology researchers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, providing easy access to regularly updated data on the structure of the virus. It can be found at the COVID-19 Data Portal - Spain, and you can explore the COVID-19 3DBionotes Platform here.
