Two postdoctoral positions for "Design of RNA–protein interactions and complexes"

International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw, Poland
Application deadline: 20 May 2026

In this project, we aim to develop new computational methods for designing interactions between RNA molecules and proteins. We are extending our existing modeling tools to allow simultaneous optimization of both RNA and protein components, making it possible to design interacting pairs that adapt to each other. Our goal is to create broadly applicable methods that can help understand and engineer RNA–protein interactions in many different biological systems. The computationally designed RNA–protein complexes will then be tested experimentally.

One postdoctoral position is aimed at a computational biologist with strong expertise in both software development and practical applications of molecular simulations. We are looking for candidates with demonstrated experience in computational modeling of RNA–protein interactions, high-level programming in C/C++ and/or Python, and the development of scoring functions for inter- and intramolecular interactions.

The second postdoctoral position is for an experimental structural biologist experienced in the determination of RNA–protein complex structures by cryo-EM, as well as in biochemical and biophysical studies of RNA–protein interactions.

Candidates who are interested in the project and have an excellent track record documented by strong first-author publications, but who may not fully match the formal requirements of these two specific positions, are also encouraged to contact me directly by email at janusz@iimcb.gov.pl (Janusz Bujnicki, IIMCB, http://iimcb.genesilico.pl).
