The Department of Infectious Disease at Imperial College London is seeking an outstanding academic for the post of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer or Reader in Structural Biology. Infectious Disease is one of eight departments within the Faculty of Medicine. The Department provides a world-class research environment where scientists from clinical and non-clinical backgrounds work together to address the unmet clinical needs for infectious disease control on a global scale. Many members of the department are associates of the newly formed Institute of Infection which provides a forum for cross Faculty and multidisciplinary approaches to combatting infectious Disease.

The Department has six sections, including the Section of Structural & Synthetic Biology which will host the new appointment. The Section works on fundamental biological mechanisms underlying human diseases as well as applying new synthetic biology technologies to both discovery and applications in human diseases.

As part of its strategic planning, the Department aims to expand our structural biology research. The post of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer or Reader will be appointed in structural biology and applications are encouraged from those leveraging the recent advances in cryo-electron microscopy and cryo-electron tomography as their core method.
