The Protein Data Bank in Europe Team (PDBe) is part of the Worldwide Protein Data Bank organisation (wwPDB), which maintains the global archive of structural data on biomacromolecules - the PDB. Structural Biology is changing, and the PDB archive faces challenges with the growth of the number and complexity of deposited structures. The PDBe Team plays a leading role in developing OneDep – the common wwPDB system for deposition, validation and biocuration of biomolecular structure data. The team also maintains a number of services, such as API, query system, PDB entry pages, PDBePISA and PDBeFold used by structural biologists and the wider scientific community. The team consists of an international and inter-disciplinary mix of professionals: scientists and software engineers. The PDBe and CS3DB teams form the Molecular and Cellular Structure cluster within the EBI.
Your role
The PDBe are looking for a software developer with a strong demonstrated record of using Python programming language and a working knowledge of relational and/or other database technologies to further develop and maintain the OneDep system. A background in, or affinity with, Structural Biology, Bioinformatics or Chemoinformatics is a distinct advantage. The successful candidate will work closely with other members of the global OneDep team to plan and implement improvements to the system.
