A position is available for a Senior Scientist in Crystollography at NovAliX. NovAliX a contract research organization of 100+ employees providing expert driven innovative outsourcing and insourcing research services for drug discovery. Core expertise includes synthetic organic chemistry, FBDD and SBDD.
They are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic crystallographer with expertise in biophysical techniques to join one of their structural team based in Saclay, Essonne (South of Paris-France).
Job description:
Dedicated to a pharmaceutical client, your work will consist in:
- Conducting crystallography projects from bibliographic work to structure determination. You will be in charge of protein production and purification from different expression systems and structure determination by X-ray crystallography.
- Supervising research projects in biophysics (MS, ITC, DLS) to characterize protein-ligand interactions.
- Delivering to the client an accurate and high quality reporting which integrates all scientific data and results to help the client teams to better understand both the mechanism of action of the molecules and the target biology.
- Managing and supervising the work of research associates in biochemistry (protein production & purification), cristallogenesis & biophysics.
The position implies both project management and bench work in a ratio 20/80 to 30/70.
You should have a PhD in crystallography with 6-9 years of experience in the pharma industry or in any drug discovery environment where structural and biophysical studies are central to the progression of medicinal chemistry strategies.
Your core of expertise is protein purification & crystallography but you have also acquired during your post-doctoral/industry experience a strong experience in biophysics to measure and characterize protein-ligand interactions.
In particular, you have a good theoretical knowledge of the most widely used techniques (native MS, ITC, NMR, DLS) and an extensive experience for some of these techniques to set-up experiments, analyze data and integrate biophysical results.
Additional experience in molecular biology and/or insect cells culture would be an asset.
They are seeking a person who speaks fluently English and French, who is passionate about structural biology and biophysics, and who has a keen sense of responsibility as well as being a committed team player.
