Phelix Therapeutics (http://www.phelixtherapeutics.com), based in Philadelphia, is seeking highly skilled, creative, and self-motivated individuals with experience in structural biology and computational chemistry to join our talented team of scientists. The successful candidate will work both independently as well as closely with the team of biologists, biochemists, and synthetic chemists to support current drug discovery projects in infectious disease, metabolic, and neurodegenerative disorders. The position requires expertise in protein crystallography; knowledge of computational chemistry (knowledge of structure-based design, and commercial modeling software) will be considered an advantage. Activities in this role include the design of protein constructs for crystallization, protein purification, x-ray diffraction data collection and structure determination. Additional responsibilities include analyzing and interpreting data and integration of results from other experimental approaches and disciplines. Based on experimental results, the candidate must have the ability to identify key scientific questions and plan appropriate follow-up experiments.
Requirements
Education/Experience/Requirements
PhD in Biochemistry/Structural Biology or similar
1-5 years of post-graduate working experience in academic or industrial settings
Expertise in structure determination from x-ray diffraction data
Expertise in protein purification
Perform molecular cloning and construct design
Experience in biophysical techniques to evaluate protein ligand interactions
Experience in molecular docking, in silico screening
Independent and self-motivated, with a strong sense of urgency and ability to drive a project to completion under tight deadlines
Able to prioritize multiple tasks appropriately
Strong interest in technology development and the translation of scientific ideas into tangible drug design
