Postdoctoral Scientist - MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology

MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, United Kingdom
Application deadline: 14 May 2023

The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) is a research institute within UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). UKRI is an entity that brings together nine partners to create an independent organisation with a strong voice for research and innovation, more information can be found at www.ukri.org.

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join Lori Passmore’s group to study mRNA 3’ end processing. Their work will build on recent advances in reconstituting the yeast and human machineries, and on recent cryoEM structures from the group.

We are looking for a scientist with a desire to work as part of a friendly and supportive team. This position will use cryoEM and other methods to investigate the structure of the mRNA 3’-end processing machinery. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a relevant subject or be due to complete within 6 months, expertise in structural biology and experience with purification of protein complexes. They should contribute their expertise to the project but will also be able to learn new approaches and to expand into new biological topics.

The successful applicant will be awarded a 3-year Career Development Fellowship/ Postdoctoral Training Scheme position. This is a training and development position for a Postdoctoral Scientist who has recently completed their doctoral studies, is moving into a new research discipline or has limited experience of key transferable skills. The MRC LMB has excellent scientific core facilities and training opportunities.
