Jobs in Structural Biology and Related Fields

Postdoctoral Research Scientist

University of Oxford, Oxford, United Kingdom
Application deadline: 23 Aug 2012

A postdoctoral position is available starting in October 2012 in the laboratory of Dr. Christian Siebold in the Division of Structural Biology at the University of Oxford. Our research focuses on the structural mechanisms of mammalian cell surface receptor signalling involved in embryonic development and stem cell regulation. We currently have the opportunity to recruit a highly-motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral fellow to join the group with the expectation of tailoring specific projects to his/her particular interests. We are particularly interested in recruiting structural biologists with substantial experience in cell surface receptor research or researchers with outstanding backgrounds in receptor biology who have a strong commitment to gaining expertise in structural biology.

You will have a PhD in biology, cell biology, structural biology, biochemistry or a related field and research experience in at least one of the following areas:

  • Production of proteins for structure/function studies using mammalian expression systems.
  • Protein crystallization and X-ray crystallography, preferably glycoproteins or membrane proteins.
  • Biophysical and cell-based assays.

The position is funded by Cancer Research UK and is fixed term for two years in the first instance.
