Postdoctoral position in Protein Engineering
If you are an enthusiastic, committed and responsible student with a love for science and if you are looking for an opportunity to develop novel therapeutic proteins to battle cancer, then their team is looking for you. The Shifman lab in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem is an international and interdisciplinary group located at the in the Givat Ram campus of the Hebrew University as part of the Biological Chemistry Department. They offer a 3-year fully funded postdoctoral position in their lab.
Project description
The goal of this project is to engineer high-affinity specific binders to a known oncogene Ras, whose mutations are found in 30% of all human cancers. Such proteins will be constructed starting from a natural human protein that is able not only to inhibit Ras pro-cancer activities and but also exhibits anticancer activity of its own. Furthermore, the protein will be engineered with capabilities to penetrate tumor environment and to enter cancer cells, where mutated Ras is located. All our projects are interdisciplinary and utilize a combination of structural modeling, experimental directed evolution, biophysical and structural methods for protein characterization, and cellular biology.
Requirements
Ph. D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology or Biology. Experience in molecular biology, protein expression/purification and cellular biology. Computational biology experience is a plus.
