Post-doctoral positions are open in the laboratory of Dr. Zhaozhu Qiu at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine for structure/function studies of membrane proteins. The lab performs high-throughput functional genomic screens to discover and deorphanize novel ion channels and transporters, such as volume-regulated anion channel VRAC and proton-activated chloride channel PAC. Combining structural (cryo-EM) and functional (electrophysiology) approaches, they aim to elucidate the biophysical mechanisms underlying their activation and ion transporting.
Candidates should have a PhD with strong skills in some of these areas, including protein purification, membrane reconstitution, structure determination by cryo-EM, and other relevant biophysical methods. Johns Hopkins University and the Baltimore/Washington D.C. region offer rich professional and living opportunities. Johns Hopkins University is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. If interested, please send a curriculum vitae and names of 3 references to Zhaozhu Qiu at zhaozhu@jhmi.edu.
