The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organizations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany) and the outstations are in Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton (UK) and Monterotondo (Italy).
EMBL is seeking to recruit a postdoctoral researcher to join the group of Daniel Panne at EMBL Grenoble. EMBL is a leading international research organization with a collaborative atmosphere. They are seeking to recruit an outstanding candidate with a strong interest in structure determination. They focus on multi-protein complexes involved in signaling in the innate immune system and/or epigenetic gene regulation. The group applies ‘hybrid methods’ techniques, including low-resolution visualization such as electron microscopy and small angle X-ray scattering together with high-resolution imaging techniques such as macromolecular X-ray crystallography.
The successful applicant should hold a Ph.D. in structural biology or biochemistry. Previous experience in crystallization/X-ray crystallography is a strong advantage but not essential. They seek a motivated, enthusiastic and organised self-starter; one who can work independently but at the same time extract the benefits of an excellent research environment. The ability to independently take responsibility over his/her own project, as well as strong teamwork and communication skills, are required as well as reliability, attention to detail and effective time management.
Motivation to work in a multidisciplinary and international environment is fundamental to this position. Good communication and presentation skills and fluency in English are expected.
