Postdoc position in Structural Biology at University of Texas Health Science Center

University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, San Antonio, United States
Application deadline: 31 Mar 2022

A postdoctoral position is immediately available at University of Texas Health Science Centre, San Antonio for a highly motivated individual interested in elucidating molecular mechanisms of ubiquitin signaling.  Research is focused on the enzymatic machinery responsible for protein ubiquitination, in particular, large protein complexes involved in regulating DNA repair and immunity.  These issues will be addressed using a multidisciplinary approach that includes cryo-EM and X-ray crystallography, complemented with biochemical/biophysical techniques and cell-based assays.

Successful candidates will join a vibrant scientific community and enjoy frequent access to state-of-the-art cryo-EM instrumentation including a Glacios TEM equipped with a Falcon 4 direct electron detector and Selectris Imaging Filter that are the centerpiece of our new cryo-EM facility.  Access to outstanding X-ray crystallography and NMR resources will also be abundantly available.

Candidates should hold a recently obtained PhD in biochemistry, chemistry, or related subject.  Demonstrated expertise in cryo-EM is highly desirable, though individuals with expertise in X-ray crystallography, protein chemistry, and/or the biochemical analysis of protein ubiquitination will also be considered.  Experience with protein expression in insect and mammalian cells is a plus.

Interested candidates should e-mail a cover letter, CV, and the names of three references to: olsens@uthscsa.edu.
