A position is available for a research scientist protein crystallography with Crelux in Martinsried near Munich.
The experienced protein crystallographer will support the team with crystallization, data collection, processing and analysis of x-ray diffraction data and model building.
As a successful candidate you will have a hands-on experience with protein purification and handling, have a good understanding of the requirements for a successful crystallization of kinases, proteases, receptors and membrane proteins and will closely interact with our expression and purification experts.
You will have experience with the set-up and maintenance of liquid-handling robotics and have no issues with the interaction with automated lab equipment on levels beyond the graphical user interfaces.
You will be expected to assist or take over the further development and integration of the in house LIMS and automated data processing pipeline.
A firm knowledge of linux operating systems, scripting and basic programming is indispensable, as you will likely have to interact with MySQL or Oracle servers and existing data mining routines.
You will have a firm grasp of crystallographic theory to carry out or assist in the structure determination of more complex or larger quantities of structures from fragment screening campaigns, where established software fails or an individual processing through software GUIs is no longer feasible. You should at the same time enjoy having to occasionally jump in where trouble shooting or repair of laboratory hardware is required, be it liquid handling robotics (Lissy, Cartesian or Mosquito), various plate hotels (Rhombix) or the in house generator (Bruker Microstar).
