Applications are invited for an NDM Scientific Leadership Fellow in Cellular Imaging reporting to Prof Yvonne Jones at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics (WTCHG).
WTCHG, an interdisciplinary centre of 470 scientists, is a leading research institute for the study of the genetics of common human diseases, structural biology and statistical genetics. The Centre has a number of Core groups which support its scientific work. Following a recent external review, we are creating a new Core in Cellular Imaging, which will be concerned with the development and application of cutting-edge light/fluorescence microscopy techniques.
You will have two major roles: establishing and leading a cutting-edge research group in an area of interest to the Centre, and leadership of the new Core.
You will already be, or will have the clear potential to become, a leading research scientist working in an area of research overlapping with the interests of the Centre and relevant to the work of the new Core in Cellular Imaging. You will be expected to pursue and develop your own independent, internationally-competitive research, and to provide strategic and operational leadership to the Core.
You will have a PhD, or equivalent experience, in an experimental area of biomedicine relevant to the interests of the Centre and have background knowledge of experimental techniques relevant to the activities of the Cellular Imaging Core. An established, strong publication record or evidence of extensive industrial experience in the field is essential, or for early-career researchers, clear evidence of potential for these.
The post is available until the 31 March 2016 and is funded by the Wellcome Trust and NDM.
Only applications received before 12:00pm on Friday 2 November 2012 can be considered. Interviews will be held on 26 November 2012. Please quote ref: 104950 on all correspondence you will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your application.
