Originally founded as the meeting of the European Study Group on the Molecular Biology of Picornaviruses, the first Europic meeting was held in 1979 in the Netherlands. Since then, Europic has evolved in to the premier international conference on picornaviruses where virologists, epidemiologists, and clinicians from all continents gather to present and share their data and exchange ideas in an open atmosphere.
The XXI Europic conference will take place on 1-4 June 2020 in Helsinki, Finland. Our progress in the future depends on the abilities to cross borders between disciplines; when people collaborate in new areas the fertility is the greatest, thus this symposium will also emphasize give great opportunities for e.g. structural biologists, biophysicists, cell biologists and clinical science to communicate, required for breakthroughs in picornavirus basic research and disease. We hope to attract up to 250 delegates representing the diversity of picornavirus research, both in terms of scientific areas, and geographical representation. The scope of Europic 2020 will include picornavirus epidemiology, detection and control, viral structure and virus-host interactions, pathogenicity, tropism and immune responses.
