The goal of this workshop is to teach users the electron diffraction method in cryo-electron microscopes, from setting up the microscope for diffraction data collection to image processing. The workshop will be principally hands-on with students working on the Talos Arctica, and/or Krios, microscopes, as well as image processing tutorials.
The workshop is available to academics only and is geared toward experienced structural biologists wanting to learn MicroED. The course is sponsored by Thermo Fisher Scientific and Diamond Light Source and is free to academic delegates (includes food and accommodation).
Applicants must show they plan to use electron diffraction as part of their research and have access to appropriate equipment to do so. The workshop aims to equip participants with the necessary skill set to further develop their cryo-EM expertise in diffraction at their home laboratories and eBIC. Several biological test samples will be provided allowing participants hands on experience with both protein and small molecule crystals. Applicants can also request to bring pre-screened (pre-clipped) grids to look at on the last day of the course.
