The University of Leicester have an open position for a Lecturer in Structural Biology

They wish to appoint an excellent and enthusiastic researcher and teacher. The Institute is particularly interested in candidates that will bring expertise in X-ray crystallography, but with an interest in using other structural biology techniques, including cryo-electron microscopy and NMR spectroscopy. The Institute has facilities for in-house X-ray crystallography, NMR spectroscopy and hosts the Midlands cryo-EM facility with a state-of-the-art Titan Krios G3.The X-ray crystallography facilities include:

  • Rigaku MicroMax™ 007 HF rotating anode X-ray generator with multi-layer optics
  • A Saturn 944+ CCD detector mounted on an AFC-10 K4-circle goniometer
  • R-AXIS-IV detector modified to include a single-crystal spectrophotometer
  • TTP LabTech mosquito® liquid handling robot
  • Douglas Instruments Oryx8 crystallisation robot
  • Cartesian Honeybee crystallisation robot –Nano litre volume crystallisation
  • Douglas Instruments Oryx4 crystallisation robot within an anaerobic chamber

We also have regular access to the synchrotron facilities in the UK (Diamond Light Source, Oxford) and Europe (European Synchrotron Research Facility, Grenoble).

You will have an established record of research achievement, as demonstrated by publications inleading journals and will take an active role in the Institute’s research profile.                  You will have a proven ability to teach across Chemistry sub-disciplines to undergraduate students. You will either have an appropriate teaching qualification, e.g. HEA fellowship, or a commitment to achieve one.
